Softball Recap: Tiftarea Academy Comes Up Short

Citizens Christian Academy hit Tiftarea Academy with a seven-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers came up short against the Patriots, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered against the Patriots since August 13, 2018.

Tiftarea Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raelyn Owens, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Tiftarea Academy has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Citizens Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.

Looking ahead, Tiftarea Academy will be playing at home against Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Citizens Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Terrell Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.7, the Eagles 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
