Baseball Game Preview: Loveland Red Wolves vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

For the second straight game, Loveland will face off against Fort Collins. The Red Wolves will face off against the Lambkins at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Loveland is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since May 1, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Collins, sneaking past 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Wolves.

Loveland got a great performance from Brady Cheever as he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The Red Wolves are 3-1 when Cheever allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Karter Butler, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Alex Martin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Fort Collins and nudges their season record down to 5-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Loveland, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
