Softball Recap: Make It Ten in a Row for Woodhaven

Woodhaven came tearing into Saturday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Riverview Pirates get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Natilee Pridemore, who gave up just eight hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Riverview off the board. Pridemore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ariel Krueger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lily Leblanc, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Woodhaven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive games.

Woodhaven's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Riverview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-4-1 record this season.

Woodhaven and Riverview should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Warriors will square off against Stoney Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (9 vs. 205). Meanwhile, Riverview (ranked 22nd) will meet Jefferson (ranked 260th) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
