Softball Recap: Tiana Starayev Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Tindley

Indiana School for the Deaf's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tindley Tigers a 13-0 shutout. The Deaf Hoosiers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Madison Dray made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Tiana Starayev was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Leokadia Saunders, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Indiana School for the Deaf's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Tindley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indiana School for the Deaf will square off against Monrovia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tindley, they will challenge Providence Cristo Rey at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
