Basketball Recap: Caston Takes a Loss

Caston lost against Peru back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Caston Comets fell 44-33 to the Peru Tigers.

Despite the defeat, Caston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madisyn Douglass dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. That was a full 69.7% of Caston's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Caston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Addie Robbins had a dynamite game for Peru, going 7 of 14 on her way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Robbins a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyannah Correll, who put up five points along with eight boards and five steals.

Caston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Peru, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Caston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-35 loss against North Miami on the 28th. As for Peru, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-45 win against Maconaquah on the 28th.
