Baseball Recap: Freedom Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Watauga, Freedom was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Mitchell Mountaineers 10-4. Considering the Patriots have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

LUKE MILLER made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Freedom: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10 otherwise. MILLER was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on ZACH CARSON, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Freedom's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was KADEN MICHAELS, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Freedom was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win snapped Freedom's losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 7-11 record. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom will square off against Alexander Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mitchell, they will host Madison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
