Baseball Recap: Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Finds Playoff Glory Versus Danville

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Danville Warriors on Thursday, sneaking past 5-3. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Charlie Cotter and Josh Bingman dominated on the mound. Cotter tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits, while Bingman struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is 4-2 when Cotter allows two or fewer earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anthony Suscha, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Marcus, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Danville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-16.

Coming up, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory will challenge Guerin Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight. Danville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
