Baseball Game Preview: Lakewood Leopards vs. Rosewood Eagles

Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Rosewood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Lakewood will welcome Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. Lakewood will be strutting in after a win while Rosewood will be coming in after a loss.

Lakewood will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Neuse Charter on Thursday. Lakewood put the hurt on Neuse Charter with a sharp 17-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Leopards in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.

Tyler Tew looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Caleb Neal was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Johnson Rouse was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Rosewood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 12-5 to Wayne Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Rosewood has suffered since April 2, 2024.

Jack Adams was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Braxson Waters, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Rosewood lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Lakewood's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Rosewood, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
