Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Has No Trouble Against American Fork

Pleasant Grove won the last time they faced American Fork and things went their way on Monday too. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Cavemen. Considering the Vikings have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Keslie Draney was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Draney was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Norman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maile Larsen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Pleasant Grove is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for American Fork, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Pleasant Grove wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-4 win against Lone Peak on the 22nd. As for American Fork, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-0 defeat against Lehi on the 22nd.
