Baseball Recap: Century Comes Up Short

Century had lost seven straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-16 to make it eight. They came up short against the Preston Indians, falling 15-0. The Diamondbacks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

As for Preston, they moved to 6-10 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Preston's part, not much got past Caide Oxborrow, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Century off the board. Oxborrow has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Preston got a massive performance out of Janson Hollingsworth, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Hollingsworth a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Thomson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Century had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
