Basketball Recap: Cheraw Takes a Loss

After flying high against Albemarle last Saturday, Cheraw came back down to earth. The Cheraw Braves were dealt a 70-40 defeat at the hands of the Richmond Raiders on Friday. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was TJ Ford, who posted 11 points. Bernard Joyner was another key player, putting up nine points.

Richmond got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jay Hamilton out in front who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points. Hamilton is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Tillman, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 14 points.

Cheraw's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Richmond, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-7.

Cheraw has already played their next contest, a 62-53 victory against Scotland on the 4th. As for Richmond, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-48 win against Union Pines on the 7th.
