Baseball Recap: El Modena Victorious

11 must be El Modena's lucky number: they beat Orange with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Vanguards beat the Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Vanguards haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Eric Ordaz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nathan Valdez was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. El Modena is undefeated when Valdez posts two or more runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was London Aldridge, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

El Modena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

El Modena's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Orange, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-14-1.

Coming up, El Modena is taking a road trip to face off against Foothill at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vanguards are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Orange, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Century on the 22nd.
