Baseball Recap: Lafayette's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to 14

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lafayette walked away with it. They came out on top against the Branford Buccaneers by a score of 4-1 on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 2-0 victory back in March.

Hyatt Richardson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over 6.1 innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Richardson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Byrd, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The win was the 14th in a row for Lafayette, bringing their record up to 20-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Branford, they moved to 21-7 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Lafayette nor the Buccaneers have any future games scheduled.
