Basketball Recap: Susquenita Drops Season-High Score on East Juniata

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Susquenita). They walked away with a 76-63 win over the East Juniata Tigers on Monday. The Blackhawks pushed the score to 63-39 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Susquenita was led to victory by Ryan Schoppy and Dylan Trimmer. Schoppy dropped a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds, while Trimmer went 10 of 23 on his way to 25 points along with six boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jacob Vega, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Susquenita was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Juniata only racked up eight assists.

Despite the defeat, East Juniata had strong showings from Wrett Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine boards, and Samuel Kopacki, who scored 18 points and six rebounds. That was a full 41.3% of East Juniata's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Susquenita has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for East Juniata, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Susquenita didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-48 loss against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy on the 16th. East Juniata has also already played their next game (against Line Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
