Basketball Recap: Mesa's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If Mesa was riding high fresh off their 100-70 takedown of Arcadia on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jackrabbits fell 81-75 to the Willow Canyon Wildcats on Friday. The Jackrabbits were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the defeat, Mesa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jakyi Miles posted 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Miles' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Daijon Grayson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mesa fell to 2-1. As for Willow Canyon, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Mesa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-64 win against Highland on the 29th. As for Willow Canyon, they have also already played their next contest, a 94-68 loss against Seven Lakes on the 29th.
