Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Independence's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to the Capitol Lions.

Loss or not, Independence got some senior leadership from Jayden Anderson and Haymann Milton. Anderson dropped a double-double with 24 points and 15 boards, while Milton posted 23 points. The contest was Milton's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Jemarcus Weatherspoon was another key player, putting up eight points.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 26-7. As for Capitol, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-15.

Coming up, Independence will take on Prairieville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Capitol does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
