Basketball Game Preview: Herndon Hornets vs. Wakefield Warriors

Herndon is 0-4 against Wakefield since December of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Herndon Hornets will host the Wakefield Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Herndon is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of George C. Marshall.

Meanwhile, Wakefield lost to Washington-Liberty on the road by a 58-44 margin on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Generals are ranked 237th).

This is the second loss in a row for Wakefield and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Herndon, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Herndon was dealt a bruising 85-42 defeat at the hands of Wakefield in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Herndon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
