Baseball Recap: Montebello Find Success

Montebello lost to Schurr last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Oilers came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 6-1.

Isaac Solorzano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Roberto Barraza was incredible, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Elijah Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Montebello was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schurr only posted a batting average of .130.

Montebello's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Schurr, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Montebello will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
