Baseball Recap: Lamar County Comes Up Short

Lamar County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Red Bay Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 on Tuesday.

Ridge Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 18 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Lamar County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Red Bay, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Lamar County will venture away from home to square off against Sulligent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Red Bay, they will head out to take on Tupelo Christian Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
