Soccer Game Preview: Liberty vs. Sunrise Mountain

The Liberty Lions will challenge the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Liberty is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked 16th at the time (Liberty was ranked fifth). Liberty beat Mountain Ridge by a goal, winning 2-1. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain's and Lake Havasu's match on Wednesday was close at halftime, but Sunrise Mountain turned on the heat in the second half with six goals. Sunrise Mountain never let Lake Havasu onto the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five games by five goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Lake Havasu from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Connor Halley led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Sunrise Mountain's win bumped their record up to 10-2-1. As for Liberty, they are also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
