Soccer Game Preview: New Hope vs. New Albany

The New Hope Trojans will venture away from home to take on the New Albany Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. New Hope's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

New Hope fell victim to Lafayette and their airtight defense on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Commodores.

Meanwhile, New Albany waltzed into their matchup two weeks ago with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine contests by more than three goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

New Albany pushed their record up to 15-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those three games. As for New Hope, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

New Hope came out on top in a nail-biter against New Albany in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Hope since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
