Baseball Recap: Brett Herrington Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Amite School Center

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Riverfield Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They never let the Amite School Center Rebels get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

John Cade Zeigler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Zeigler wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brett Herrington, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Riverfield Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Amite School Center, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-10.

Riverfield Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rebels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
