Agua Fria triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Tami Balogun

Recap: Agua Fria Owls vs. Wickenburg Wranglers

On Thursday, Agua Fria was able to grind out a solid victory over Wickenburg, taking the game 37-25. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Agua Fria.

It was another big night for Tami Balogun, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Karla Mendez, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Several Wranglers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie Chavarria, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Chavarria scored a full 44% of Wickenburg's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylee Buchert, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.

Agua Fria now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Wickenburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Agua Fria won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northwest Christian at 8:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Wickenburg is on the road again on Friday and play against Glendale Prep Academy at 3:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Glendale Prep Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wickenburg in Arizona (Glendale Prep Academy is ranked 73rd, while Wickenburg is ranked 210th).
