Softball Recap: Tonasket Extends Winning Streak to Three

Tonasket took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Okanogan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 7-6 on Saturday. The seven-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Macy Vassar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rylee Michels and Kerrington Johansen did most of the damage at the plate: Michels went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Johansen went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Johansen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordyn O'Connor, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory was the third in a row for Tonasket, bringing their record up to 11-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Okanogan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Tonasket will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
