Recap: Nicholas County Grizzlies vs. Hoover Huskies
If the Nicholas County Grizzlies were riding high off their 80-55 takedown of the Independence Patriots on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Nicholas County was outmatched by Hoover on the road and fell 82-55. Nicholas County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-23.
Nicholas County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Miner, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ethan Collins, who scored 11 points.
Leading Hoover to victory were Donovan Brown and Dane Hatfield. Brown scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Hatfield scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The game was Hatfield's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Wesley Miller was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Nicholas County now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hoover, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nicholas County will take on Braxton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Braxton County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Hoover, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nitro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nitro is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
