Recap: Scott Central Rebels vs. Morton Panthers
The Scott Central Rebels were the 60-31 winner over the Morton Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Scott Central suffered a tough 49-25 defeat at the hands of Morton on Friday. While losing is never fun, Scott Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Morton is ranked tenth).
Scott Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Azaeliyah Lyles, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashanti Murrell, who scored seven points.
Scott Central's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Morton, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
Scott Central will be playing at home against French Camp Academy on Sunday. French Camp Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Morton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Forest at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Forest is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
