After a string of four wins, Canyon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Pacifica Mariners by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Comanches have suffered against the Mariners since March 26, 2016.

Matt Frometa was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Jonathan Sandoval was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Canyon's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 13-6. As for Pacifica, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-14.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Canyon is set to challenge their familiar foe Yorba Linda at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Pacifica will square off against rival La Habra at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mariners 3.7, the Highlanders 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
