Baseball Game Preview: Aquinas Knights vs. Waterloo Vikings

The Aquinas Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Waterloo Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Aquinas made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Malvern, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

McDonald hit Waterloo with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

Derek Hupp was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Waterloo's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Aquinas, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Everything went Aquinas' way against Waterloo when the teams last played back in March of 2017, as Aquinas made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
