Softball Recap: Kuna Finds Home Field Redemption Against Ridgevue

There's no place like home for Kuna, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Ridgevue Warhawks on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 back in April.

Rylee Mangum made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over 6.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Elle Wemhoff was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Amber Harwood was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Kuna hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Kuna has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgevue, they dropped their record down to 0-20 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Kuna will venture away from home to face off against Eagle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Kavemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. Ridgevue does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
