Baseball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Flagstaff Christian's Winning Streak

Flagstaff Christian dropped their record down to 5-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Wickenburg Christian Academy Lion, falling 16-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Wickenburg Christian Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-5 back in March.

Corbyn Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Taren Shiew, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2-1. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Wickenburg Christian Academy's side, Matt Sheehan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Sheehan was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Wickenburg Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Ross Egan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Aziel Flores was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flagstaff Christian will square off against Thunderbird Adventist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flagstaff Christian is facing Thunderbird Adventist Academy at the right time seeing as Thunderbird Adventist Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, they will take on Ajo at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
