Basketball Recap: Tony Bos Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

DeMotte Christian won against Faith Christian last Saturday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The DeMotte Christian Knights took down the Culver Community Cavaliers 54-40. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 61-53 loss the last time these two teams met.

DeMotte Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Bos, who went 8 for 16 to rack up 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bos has scored at least a third of DeMotte Christian's points. Tanyon Bakker was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.

DeMotte Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Culver Community's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonas McCuen, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave McCuen a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Braylon Jackson, who earned 11 points.

DeMotte Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Culver Community, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Coming up, DeMotte Christian will head out on the road to square off against Marquette Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Culver Community, they will host Argos at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th.
