Preview: Farmington Farmers vs. Illini West Chargers
Farmington is 4-0 against Illini West since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Farmington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Knoxville with a sharp 81-55 win. That looming 81-55 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Farmington yet this season.
Illini West posted their closest win yet this season on Wednesday. They skirted past Hamilton/Warsaw 59-56. The win was all the more spectacular given Illini West's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Hamilton/Warsaw is ranked 132nd).
Farmington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Illini West, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Farmington skirted past Illini West 49-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Will Farmington repeat their success, or does Illini West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
