Basketball Recap: Wiregrass Takes a Loss

Wiregrass dropped to 10-8 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They were dealt a 48-21 loss at the hands of the Ezekiel Academy Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Kings have suffered since December 12, 2025.

Avery Barnes and Jayda Dozier certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Barnes posted nine points, while Dozier scored two points. Dozier is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

As for Ezekiel Academy, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 32-0. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 25 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Gianna Johnson had another great game (as she tends to do), going 6-for-12 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Addi Newell, who put up ten points and three blocks.

As of now, neither Wiregrass nor Ezekiel Academy have any future games scheduled.
