Volleyball Game Preview: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. Mount Airy Granite Bears

The Surry Central Golden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Mount Airy Granite Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Surry Central is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering North Surry just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Greyhounds.

Despite the defeat, Surry Central had strong showings from Mallie Southern, who had 17 kills, five digs, three aces, and two blocks, and Kenzie Hooker, who had eight digs, two aces, and one block. Hooker has been hot for a while, having also posted 16 or more assists the last 14 times she's played. Stella Wall was another key player, getting 12 digs and three assists.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy came up short against East Surry on Thursday, falling 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.

Surry Central's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Mount Airy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Surry Central was able to grind out a solid win over Mount Airy in their previous meeting on Tuesday, winning 3-1. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Granite Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
