Baseball Recap: Pequea Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lancaster Mennonite

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pequea Valley). They put the hurt on the Lancaster Mennonite Blazers with a sharp 11-0 win on Wednesday. The Braves not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.

Dominick Burrell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pequea Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise. Burrell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Sammy Chappell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Smucker, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Pequea Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Pequea Valley's record is now 4-8. As for Lancaster Mennonite, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pequea Valley will take on Brandywine Heights Area at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lancaster Mennonite, they will face off against Northern Lebanon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
