Baseball Game Preview: Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers vs. Westview Chargers

The Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Westview Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

While Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Clarksburg 17-5 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Meanwhile, while Westview put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Obion County. Westview was the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Obion County. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won seven in a row.

Cooper Spaulding made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, CD Damron was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Easton Wyatt also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Westview, their record now sits at 6-1.

Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Westview when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
