Basketball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders 54-20. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.

Jy'Aira Washington was Northeast's leading scorer, having posted six points. Geniya Fisher held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

It was another big night for Emme Dalhoff, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists for Clearwater Central Catholic. Dalhoff is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Julia Comfort, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing St. Petersburg the next time they take the court. Clearwater Central Catholic will head out to face St. Petersburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while Northeast will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
