Softball Preview: Castleberry Lions vs. Decatur Eagles
Castleberry is 0-10 against Decatur since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Castleberry was able to grind out a solid win over Bridgeport, taking the game 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
Rand'Elle Conner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Cassandra Martinez was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Cardenas was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Decatur made easy work of Bridgeport on Tuesday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
Alivia Creasser made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Moreland, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Abby Steele, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Decatur is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Castleberry, their record now sits at 6-16-1.
