Basketball Recap: Wabash Takes a Loss

Wabash was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Comets. The Apaches were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Wabash lost, don't look at Eli Mattern. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 14 on his way to 20 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Mattern a new career-high in steals. Noah Baldwin was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Wabash's loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Eastern, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wabash will venture away from home to take on Lewis Cass at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Wabash is facing Lewis Cass at the right time seeing as Lewis Cass is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Eastern, they will head out to square off against Wes-Del at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
