Basketball Game Preview: Jenkins Warriors vs. Calvary Day Cavaliers

The Jenkins Warriors will square off against the Calvary Day Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jenkins has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Jenkins is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 71-52 victory over Beach on Tuesday.

Jenkins got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was I'Yarna Lee out in front who went 6 for 9 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Lee a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Browner, who went 7 of 16 en route to 17 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Calvary Day got the win against Johnson on Tuesday by a conclusive 70-49. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Jenkins better keep an eye on Zora Geiger. She was instrumental in Calvary Day's win, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Ahkira Mack, who posted 11 points.

Lee wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Calvary Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Calvary Day pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Jenkins, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Jenkins took a serious blow against Calvary Day when the teams last played back in December of 2020, falling 64-23. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Jenkins was down 35-14.
