Basketball Recap: Piner Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Piner won the last time they faced St. Vincent de Paul, and Brendan Walker did his part to make sure it happened again. The Piner Prospectors enjoyed a cozy 55-38 victory over the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs on Friday thanks in part to Walker, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Jaden Hernandez was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 19 times he's played.

Despite the loss, St. Vincent de Paul still got an impressive performance from Jack Ellis, who posted 12 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Chelew, who scored eight points.

The win (which was Piner's third in a row) raised their record to 12-8. As for St. Vincent de Paul, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Piner didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-41 victory against Healdsburg on the 22nd. St. Vincent de Paul has also already played their next match, a 50-43 loss against St. Bernard's on the 20th.
