Basketball Game Preview: Nickerson Panthers vs. Plainville Cardinals

The Nickerson Panthers will take on the Plainville Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Nickerson is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight games dating back to last season on Monday. They lost to St. John on the road by a 47-31 margin.

Despite their defeat, Nickerson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Noah Weber, who posted six points and nine boards, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Brawner, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Plainville took a blow against Holcomb on Tuesday, falling 75-37. The loss put an end to the Cardinals' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Plainville fell to 2-1. As for Nickerson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Nickerson strolled past Plainville when the teams last played back in December of 2017 by a score of 66-48. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
