Volleyball Recap: Cami Carroll Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Saint Mary's Hall

While Devine's win against Saint Mary's Hall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warhorses / Arabians had just enough and edged out the Barons 2-1 on Saturday. The Warhorses / Arabians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Barons, too.

Devine had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Devine got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cami Carroll out in front who had 13 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Carroll a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Greeley Malone, who had eight digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Devine was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Saint Mary's Hall lost, don't look at Breanna Benavides. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs and five aces. Benavides is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 35 games she's played dating back to last season.

Devine is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Having lost for the first time this season, Saint Mary's Hall fell to 5-1.

Devine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Ingram Moore on the 23rd. As for Saint Mary's Hall, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Crystal City on the 23rd.
