The Acalanes Dons will take on the Birmingham Patriots at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Acalanes comes in on four and Birmingham on nine.
With a playoff game on the line, Acalanes rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over the Cougars. Considering Acalanes has won nine matches by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Acalanes got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sully Bailey out in front who rushed for 33 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Miller, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Del Norte typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Birmingham proved too difficult a challenge. Birmingham narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Del Norte 30-28.
Kingston Tisdell was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Dredon Fowles was another key contributor, rushing for 148 yards.
Acalanes' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.67 points. As for Birmingham, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as Acalanes and Birmingham haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Acalanes commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Birmingham struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6 per game.
