Baseball Game Preview: Randolph Rockets vs. Pardeeville Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Randolph will face off against Pardeeville. The Rockets will take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Randolph has struggled recently with 24 defeats in a row, while Pardeeville will arrive with four straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Randolph's offense. They came up short against Pardeeville on Tuesday, falling 31-0.

For Pardeeville's part, Joe Dosemagen and Caleb Mackey were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dosemagen pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Mackey tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Dosemagen went 1-for-5 with three runs and two RBI, while Mackey got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Mackey a new career-high.

In other batting news, Logan Young was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Pardeeville is undefeated when Young posts one or more home runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Dechert, who went 4-for-6 with five runs, five RBI, and one double.

Pardeeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Pardeeville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
