Baseball Recap: Liberty County Takes a Loss

Liberty County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Opp Bobcats, falling 13-3.

Liberty County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sy Shiver, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Shiver has posted since back in April of 2024. Gavin Jerkins was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Liberty County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Liberty County's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Opp, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty County will face off against Sneads at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sneads is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Opp, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bullock County at 5:00 p.m. The contest will give Opp their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
