Baseball Game Preview: Bishop McDevitt Crusaders vs. Gettysburg Warriors

The Bishop McDevitt Crusaders will face off against the Gettysburg Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop McDevitt will be strutting in after a victory while Gettysburg will be coming in after a loss.

Bishop McDevitt headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Central Dauphin East let them put that streak behind them. The Crusaders never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Vince Leoni's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. He has become a key player for Bishop McDevitt: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 1-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Easton Comp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ish Palmer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Gettysburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to Hershey.

Bishop McDevitt's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Gettysburg, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Bishop McDevitt beat Gettysburg 10-6 in their previous meeting on April 8th. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
