Softball Game Preview: Bonita Springs Bullsharks vs. Cypress Lake Panthers

The Bonita Springs Bullsharks will head out on the road to square off against the Cypress Lake Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bonita Springs is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Bonita Springs came up short against Barron Collier on Thursday, falling 16-1.

Bonita Springs saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Balentine, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cypress Lake). They were the clear victors by a 21-6 margin over Dunbar on Friday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Audrina Westland made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Maisy Vogel was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Karen Llaguno Mora also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Cypress Lake hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunbar struck out seven times.

Bonita Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cypress Lake, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.

Bonita Springs came up short against Cypress Lake when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 9-6. Can Bonita Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
