Basketball Recap: Buchtel Takes a Loss

Buchtel played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Ellet Orangemen, falling 70-44. The Griffins haven't had much luck with the Orangemen recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite the loss, Buchtel still got an impressive performance from Myah Clark, who posted 17 points and five boards. Clark continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Shaylah Jones was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Caitlyn Holmes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ellet, going 8 for 10 en route to 17 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Holmes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenadie Keith, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points along with six assists and four steals.

Buchtel's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Ellet, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Buchtel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-15 defeat against Norwayne on the 25th. Ellet has also already played their next game (against North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
