Softball Recap: Hereford Takes a Loss

After flying high against Clovis last Tuesday, Hereford came back down to earth. The Hereford Whitefaces lost 18-1 to the Dumas Demons on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Whitefaces of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lia Gaytan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Hereford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Dumas, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hereford will venture away from home to face off against Canyon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hereford has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Dumas, they will challenge Perryton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Dumas' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
